As if 2-cent coins and
3-cent coins were not odd enough, some
government genius got the idea for a Twenty-Cent coin, which was only minted from 1875 to 1878. They were so similar to the quarter that
the
public did not like them (just as the Susan B. Anthony dollar caused
confusion a century later). The 1877 and 1878 coins were only struck for
collectors, so this odd coin really only had a 2-year run.
